When will my street be reconstructed & paved?
Town Engineer schedules'& oversees all paving projects, as well as projected list of streets to be scheduled for reconstruction. Residents receive formal written notification with all pertinent information prior to the start of any work. The Town Engineer, Bob Campbell, can be contacted at extension 8012.

When will my street be plowed/sanded?
There are Town vehicles & Contractors assigned to all routes & they are working around the clock to open all streets & keeping them open & sanded. Unfortunately, there is no set time for any street. The first priority is to open & keep open main roads and then the secondaries. In the meantime, if yon have an emergency, contact Police & we will respond immediately to assist in getting you out. When is leaf pickup schedule?

Why weren't my leaves picked up?
We do not know why, unfortunately missed pickups do occur, but we will contact the contractor & report it as missed. Is it just your residence or the entire street? This helps with reporting it so the contractor can send the right equipment in for pickup.

How can I dispose of leaves and yard waste?
The Compost Site at the Plain St. Cemetery is available to all residents until January 31 of each year. The Hours are Wednesday thru Sunday, 7:30 AM -12:00 Noon & 12:30 PM-3:00 PM. The Site is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Holidays.

Where is the Compost Site?
Take Kendall Ave. off Pearl St., you come to fork in the road, which becomes Plain St., the road ,to the Site is to the left as you enter the Cemetery. Go straight up the road and you will see an attendant who will assist you.

Do I need a residential sticker?
If you have paid the trash fee, you can obtain a sticker for the Leaf Site at the Tax Collector's Office. You must show your registration to that office. That office can be contacted at extension 8130.

Are the Street Sweepers out?
Yes, the sweepers are out year-round, weather permitting, until temperatures reach below freezing at which time they can no longer operate. They work in a route at a time.

Is trash a day late due to the holiday?
Yes, and schedule is extended to Saturday.

How do I get new signs, crosswalks, on my street?
If they are currently non-existent, please contact DPW Director Tom Whalen. He is the Chairman of the Traffic Advisory Committee. He will inform you of the procedure for request to be placed on the agenda. The Committee meets the third Tuesday of each month. Mr. Whalen can be contacted at extension 8254.

How do I obtain a Street/Sidewalk Opening Permit?
They are issued in this office. All Permits require a $35.00 Non-Refundable Application Fee and Street Permits require a Cash Performance of $500.00, Certified Check or Cash only, which is refundable. The length of holding this cash is at the discretion of Highway/Grounds Asst. Supt. Stephen O'Brien.
