Dog licenses will be available at the Braintree Town Clerk’s office for the year 2007 from April 13th through June 29. An up-to-date rabies vaccination certificate is required. The fee is $10.00 per dog. Licenses obtained after June 30, 2007 will be assessed a $15.00 late fee for each year missed in addition to all other applicable fees.
All dogs six months and over need to be licensed yearly.

To license dogs by mail, send your request with a check made out to the Town of Braintree for the correct amount, a copy of the dog’s up-to-date rabies vaccination (originals will be returned to you), and a self addressed stamped envelope. If you have any questions please call the Town Clerk’s Office at 781-794-8241. Forms are available on the Town’s web site, www.townofbraintreegov.org

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.

The Friends of Pond Meadow Park are looking for volunteers to help with fund-raising activities which support the park. At present there are two main activities - , a wreath sale in December and a flower sale in May. The time involved is minimal but the satisfaction you will get is tremendous. COMMISSION OF YOUTH & FAMILIES. The selectmen are looking for residents to serve as members on the Commission of Youth & Families. They are looking for members of the community with past or present commitment and dedication to the youth of Braintree. Braintree's form of government will not change until January, 2008, when the new mayor/town council form will take office. Meanwhile, there are opportunities for residents to serve on committees appointed by the town moderator. Those interested in serving on the finance committee, the capital planning committee, the recycling committee, the community preservation committee, the government study committee, and the water and sewer treatment plant oversight committee may submit a letter to Edward A. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. The Water Quality and Fisheries Committee needs help reading a stream gauge in the Monatiquot near Weymouth Landing. Volunteers would read the gauge one or two times per day, one day per week, and report the day's results by phone or email. Information will hopefully help scientists and fisheries personnel improve the habitat for spawning fish, rainbow smelt, and river herring in the Monatiquot River.
