Braintree Recycling: Special Collection & E-Waste

Discarded Cell PhonesE*Waste is a growing issue, and residents should be aware of the impact electronic products have on our environment. For example, Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) contain lead, are found in TVs and monitors, and are prohibited from normal trash collection.
The Town sponsors 2 events each year. TVs, computers/monitors, electronics, dehumidifiers, ACs, etc. are being collected by The Friends of the Library at the Household Hazardous Waste events at the Recycling Center on Ivory Street on April 27   & September 28,   2013 from 9:00 AM – Noon (nominal charges).

Cell Phones - Cell phones can be donated to support our soldiers at one of the following locations:
Cell Phone Collection Points:

  • Recycling Center/257 Ivory Street
  • Council on Aging/Cleveland Ave.
  • Water & Sewer Building/90 Pond Street

Construction Debris
New service: Residents may now take small amount of construction debris to the Trash Transfer Station and pay only 10 cents a pound rather than the minimum fee of $150. You need to use the same entrance as the trash trucks and go up the hill to the scale as the trash trucks do. PAYMENT IS BY CREDIT CARD ONLY. This is meant for small residential projects and is limited to one or two visits per week. Contractors need to pay the commercial rate of $150. Clean Harbors
Braintree residents can dispose of hazardous materials at the Clean Harbors site 1 Hill Avenue. off of Quincy Avenue, March through November 28. Please call 781-380-7177 for more information, cost and directions.

Propane Tanks
Propane tanks are acceptable at the Covanta Trash Station residential drop-off site (two per resident). NO STICKER REQUIRED.

Christmas Trees 2013 will be collected Saturday January 5 & 12, 2013. Christmas tree pick up in 2013 will be collected Saturdays January 5th & 12th, 2013 After that please drop off at 225 Plain St. Compost Site. Open: April 1-January 31: Wednesday - Sunday 7:30 AM-12:30PM & 1:00- 3:00 PM
Closed: February & March

Appliances & Metal Items are collected 1 week per month. To arrange for pickup, call Capitol Waste at least 48 hours prior to your trash day @ 617-569-1718. If calling after office hours, leave your address, inclusive of "Braintree" & state the day of the week that your trash is collected & what items(s) you are putting out for pickup. Pickups for 2012 will be on your regular trash day by a special truck the weeks of Nov 5, & Dec 3 2012, Jan 7, Feb 4 & Mar 4, 2013. A new brochure on trash + recycling will be sent to you with the February 2013 BELD bill.
