The Town received in June of 2011 a Mass Preservation Project Fund (MPPF) grant of $45,000 from Massachusetts Historical Commission towards the preservation and restoration of the exterior of the building to secure the building from the weather. Phase I exterior construction work roof, façade and chimneys started in the fall of 2011 and continue to the summer of 2012. Phase II exterior project includes restoration of the windows, frames and sashes as well as the front door currently underway for the summer of 2014. The Phase III exterior is proposed to have an addition for universal accessibility and rest rooms to the building. Mayor Sullivan continues to pursue funding opportunities for the interior restoration of the building to be used as community meeting space.
