Out of an abundance of caution due to the current health crisis, the Town of Braintree has modified their marriage intention policy as follows:
- Appointments are required and can be made by calling 781.794.8240.
- Appointments are available on Tuesday's (9:00am to 6:30pm) and Thursdays (9:00am to 4:00pm)
- Appointments will not be scheduled earlier than 21-days prior to the planned civil ceremony.
- At least one of the parties are required to be a current resident of Braintree.
- Both parties are required to apply in person on day of appointment.
- A Marriage License Fee of $25 is required on day of appointment.
- A three-day waiting period is required before the license can be issued (The three day waiting period may be waived by the Courts). A marriage license, once filed, is valid for 60 days.
- After the marriage occurs, the officiant completes the license and returns the certificate to the town.
