Responsibilities

The Braintree Collector’s office collects payments for Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise, Boat Excise, as well as Trash Bills.

Payments can be delivered in person to our office located on the first floor of Town Hall and we accept cash, personal check (in most cases) and credit card payments.  We also have a Collector’s drop box located in the parking lot of Town Hall and CHECK payments only can be made into that drop box (please don’t leave cash in there!).  We also accept payments online – and we encourage all residents to utilize our Online Bill Payments portal! Any questions should be directed to 781-794-8130.

The Collector’s Office also assists residents with issues regarding payment of bills overdue, lost bills, etc. we will do the same for mortgage companies as well. We prepare Certificates of Municipal Lien (MLC) for attorneys and residents. We will also prepare release forms for water/sewer connections if there was a lien filed at the Registry of Deeds. We also maintain custody of all municipal funds and are responsible for the deposit, investment and disbursement of these monies per Mass General Laws Chapter 41 Section 35.

We do NOT currently collect payment for Water Bills – collection for those bills currently occurs at the Braintree Water Department office located at 85 Quincy Avenue, Braintree MA.
