Braintree has formed a Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee to identify projects to mitigate the risks caused by natural hazards and climate change .The Town is working with a consultant hired by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to develop a Hazard Mitigation Plan that will be approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and adopted by the Town. This plan allows Braintree to apply for pre- and post-disaster mitigation funds.
