Good afternoon, this is Mayor Erin Joyce calling with an important Tuesday afternoon winter storm update.
We are looking forward to welcoming students back to schools tomorrow, Wednesday, for regularly scheduled classes. We are asking for our entire community to be extra careful navigating streets and sidewalks as you get back to school and work tomorrow. There are significant snow banks throughout Town and unplowed sidewalks that will make travel challenging. Please use your best discretion to get your kids to school–this may mean driving your students to school or escorting them to bus stops. Concerns for unplowed sidewalks and crosswalks can be communicated through the Mayor’s Office or the DPW Snow Hotline 781-794-8965. If you are able to help in our sidewalk clearing effort, every little bit helps–I want to thank residents who have already cleared the sidewalk in front of their homes.
Please bear with us as we continue to dig out–DPW crews have been working around the clock and will be working throughout the evening to continue plowing and snow removal operations, especially around our schools.
The Parking Ban will continue through Wednesday afternoon and be lifted at noon on Wednesday. Thank you so much for your cooperation during this storm–we’ve towed approximately 50 vehicles, but as a result many of our roadways were clear for smooth plow operations.
For residents impacted by the Parking Ban, we ask that you utilize our off-street parking locations, which include the Smith Beach, Sunset Lake, Golf Course and Watson Park, East Braintree Municipal Lot, and South Braintree Municipal Lot will be available for off-street parking.
Curbside trash and recycling pickup will be delayed by one day during the week of January 26. Please be sure to clear a path to your trash and recycling carts.
For Snow Clearing questions, the Town of Braintree’s Snow Hotline is available at 781-794-8965.
