BRAINTREE CELEBRATES NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
Braintree, MA – In accordance with the tradition of the American Public Works Association, employees of the Braintree Department of Public Works (DPW) will be honored during National Public Works Week, May 19th-25th. Activities and programs scheduled for the week will celebrate the contributions of public works professionals as well as the communities they serve.
“Our public works professionals are an integral part of keeping our community operating efficiently and safely,” says Mayor Sullivan. “In celebrating this week, we hope to spotlight the efforts of our public works teams and educate the public on all they do for our Town.”
The Braintree DPW is made up of several divisions, including Engineering, Golf, Grounds & Cemetery, Highway, Recycling & Trash, Recreation & Community Events, Stormwater Management, Vehicle & Building Maintenance, and Water & Sewer. They are, in short, the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to the Town of Braintree’s health, safety, and comfort.
A public celebration of National Public Works Week will be held at the Braintree Highway Barn on May 21, 2019, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM. All are welcome to come and participate in the Braintree DPW’s “Touch-a-Truck” event, which will showcase the equipment and the duties of each division of the DPW. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information about Braintree’s National Public Works Week celebration, contact the Department of Public Works at 781-843-8097.
