Petersen Pool and Rink Update
Braintree, MA – As reported earlier this week, the Town was presented with an option to transfer the Petersen Pool and Rink Project to a new private operator. The Town has worked diligently to review the proposal and confirm that the proposed operator has the necessary development capabilities, skills, and experience to build and operate the facility.
At this time we can report that an agreement in principle has been reached by all parties and we have established a framework that allows this project to move forward. We expect to have a final agreement in place no later than Friday, May 17, 2019, with a formal announcement shortly thereafter.
Throughout this process, the Town has continued to act in the best interest of the community.
Our community deserves this facility for recreational usage by our families, youth groups and our Town’s athletic teams and, most importantly, to honor the benevolent wishes of Captain August Petersen. Again, thank you for your patience as we move this project another step closer to completion.
