Massachusetts State Police attached to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey’s Office are investigating a police-involved shooting in the town of Braintree tonight (May 2, 2020).
Initial information indicates that Braintree police received a 911 call alerting to an address in the 100s block of Grove Street at approximately 5:33p.m. tonight for a report of an armed male in front of a residence.
The facts and circumstances of what transpired next are under investigation, but the subject of the call, a man in his 50s was shot and wounded by police and has been transported by Braintree Fire Department and Brewster Emergency Medical Services to South Shore Hospital where he is receiving care.
Braintree Police contacted the State Police Detective Unit – Norfolk DA’s Office shortly after the incident. Police Chief Mark Dubois has asked District Attorney Morrisey and State Police detectives assigned to his office to lead the investigation. State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Ballistics Section investigators are also on scene.
Further release of information is unlikely this evening.
