Mayor Charles C. Kokoros Provides Update on Coronavirus in Braintree

"For those of you following our daily reporting of COVID-19 positive cases in Braintree, you have probably noticed an increase in numbers over the last two and a half weeks that resulted in our placement in the “yellow” or “medium risk” designation by the state.

From September 14th through the 30th, we had a total of 64 positive cases in Braintree. Nearly half of these residents that tested positive were between the ages of 20 and 29 years old and less than 1% are residents over the age of 60.

I want to take this opportunity to remind all of our residents that we must remain vigilant against the spread of COVID-19, especially as we have seen an increase in positive cases within our community. We must all continue to do our part to ensure that the number of cases decreases, returning us to the “green” or “gray” risk designation. This includes continuing to practice social distancing, wearing masks and following the Governor’s mandate on gatherings.

Our positive case rates will determine if we as a community can move into Phase 3, Step 2 of the Governor’s Reopening Plan, scheduled to begin on Monday, October 5, 2020.

If you have any questions about our daily reporting of COVID-19 positive cases or general questions about the coronavirus, please contact the Health Department at 781-794-8090."
