Mayor Charles C. Kokoros is pleased to share with the community that the Town of Braintree began vaccinating its first responders and public health nurses with the coronavirus vaccine earlier this afternoon at Town Hall. There were 43 first responders and public health nurses that received the vaccine today.

“While our community has been able to provide our first responders and public health nurses with Personal Protective Equipment since the beginning of the pandemic, this vaccine will ensure they are safe and protected while continuing to deal with the coronavirus on the front lines,” said Mayor Kokoros.

Braintree received 200 vaccines from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health which will be administered over the next couple of days to first responders. Everyone who receives a vaccine will receive the second dose 28 days after receiving the first dose

“The Health Department’s decades-long history of holding a flu clinic for residents has prepared them to safely and efficiently administer the coronavirus vaccine at Town Hall,” said Mayor Kokoros. “This is a monumental day in Braintree’s efforts to combat the coronavirus in our community and this is something we all deserve to be proud of.”
