[ARCHIVED] Town of Braintree’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance

On Monday, January 18th, the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be observed in a virtual video ceremony. In addition to the remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mayor Kokoros will be honoring the Town of Braintree Public Health and School Nurses as the “Martin Luther King Jr. Braintree Citizen of the Year.”    

Since March the Town of Braintree Public Health and School Nurses have gone above and beyond their daily duties and responsibilities, including working with the Health Department to conduct contact tracing. Now as vaccinations become available they are helping administer the vaccine to our first responders.

The following individuals will be honored and recognized:

  -         Jean Afzali – Director of School Nursing Services 

-           Jane Bagley – Hollis Elementary School Nurse

-           Diane Bulman – Braintree High School Nurse

-           Cheryl Campbell – Morrison Elementary School Nurse 

-           Peggy Ciulla – Pre School Nurse 

-           Sara Crowley – Monatiquot School Kindergarten Center Nurse 

-           Ashley Dias – Braintree High School Nurse 

-           Heather Driscoll – South Middle School Nurse 

-           Karen Hubbard – Interim Director of School Nursing Services 

-           Joanne Kelly – Liberty Elementary School Nurse

-           Casey McDonough – South Middle School Nurse 

-           Ashley McHugh – Monatiquot School Kindergarten Nurse 

-           Carolynn Moore – Braintree Public Health Nurse 

-           Heidi Morris – Braintree High School Nurse

-           Mary Mulready – Braintree Public Health Nurse 

-           Heidi Olson – Ross Elementary School Nurse 

-           MaryAnn O’Rourke – East Middle School Nurse 

-           Kelly Perfetti – Highlands Elementary School Nurse 

-           Judy Sellon – Flaherty Elementary School Nurse 

-           Ellen Wright – East Middle School Nurse  

“These nurses have made a tremendous impact in our community and, in keeping with Dr. King’s efforts, stepped up to help others during a time of great uncertainty,” said Mayor Kokoros. “They continue to care for our children at school while at the same time ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in our community and are the most deserving of receiving this prestigious honor.” 

Residents can watch the virtual video ceremony on BCAM Monday, January 18th at 9:30 am, 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm and on Tuesday, January 19th at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm (Verizon Channel 26 and Comcast Channel 8). Additionally, the video will be shared on the Town’s Facebook page and on the Town’s YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Mxq5jhCEHAjeL_h_CDLaQ/videos) at 9:30 am on Monday, January 18th
