Mayor Charles C. Kokoros invites residents to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, August 23rd at 6:00 pm to discuss removing 6 Norway Maples at the South St playground. These trees have been identified by the Town’s Tree Contractor as high risk for falling limbs, suffering from root structure damage, and they have sited a lot of dead growth in all of the trees. The Town’s Tree Contractor is a licensed arborist and are recommending complete removal of the trees to prevent the danger for falling limbs in this highly trafficked area. The Town will plant replacement trees this fall and will work towards planting trees that are a native species, fast growing and have deeper rooting than the current Norway Maples. The meeting will be held remotely via Zoom.
