Mayor Charles C. Kokoros is excited to announce the Town of Braintree was awarded $2.5 million for the Allen Street Reconstruction as part of the MassWorks grant program.
In addition to $3.15 million dollar earmark approved by the House as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill, this funding will further support the reconstruction of Allen Street from Shaw Street to Quincy Avenue(Link to Congressman Lynch Advocates for Allen Street Reconstruction at House Appropriations Committee Press Release). In addition to the reconstruction of the Allen Street roadway and sidewalk, these funds will allow for the reconfiguration of the intersection of Shaw Street with Allen Street/Thayer Road to enhance motor vehicle traffic and safety.
“My administration has remained committed to revitalizing Allen Street and I appreciate the Governor’s Office and our State Delegation for their continued support of this important work and the award of funding from the MassWorks Program,” said Mayor Kokoros. “I want to especially thank and recognize the Town’s Grant Writer/Contract Administrator Lorraine See for her hard work throughout the grant application process and for her assistance in helping the Town secure a MassWorks grant for the first time in recent history”
The newly reconstructed Allen Street will be accompanied by the redevelopment of 44 Allen Street, to include a residential community wth public waterfront access to the Monatiquot River.
