Abigail Adams and the Daughters of Liberty
Wednesday, February 25, 2026
The time is January 1774, the month following the Boston Tea Party. Abigail Adams (portrayed by Carol Cohen) invites a group of women to Plymouth for a “Spinning Bee” at the home of James and Mercy Warren. The audience is part of the meeting where Abigail introduces several of the Revolutionary Women such as historian and author Mercy Otis Warren, poet Phillis Wheatly and patriot Deborah Sampson.
The performance is followed by an informative and visually rich power point presentation providing a close-up look at several members of the daughters of Liberty, focusing on important contributions they made for Independence.
Carol Cohen is a lifelong academic and published historian. She has been touring New England for several years as Eleanor Roosevelt. In celebration of America’s 250th Carol has created Abigail Adams and the Daughters of Liberty.
