Overview

The Braintree Water and Sewer Department's primary mission is to maintain and improve the quality and reliability of the water and sewer systems in the Town of Braintree and to maintain the highest level of service at the lowest possible cost to the ratepayers.

2025 Hydrant Flushing

The Town of Braintree will begin our annual flushing program starting May 5, 2025. You may experience dirty water during this period and we ask for your patience and understanding during the process. The hours of flushing will be from 8 pm until 4 am Monday - Thursday and should have a minimal effect on the water distribution system.

Signs will be posted on MAIN STREETS in the areas that the flushing will occur and the program should be completed by the end of August.

Please refrain from doing laundry during these hours and always check to ensure that your water is running clear before resuming laundry activities. If it is not clear then run your water until it is and then run your washing machine without a load in it to prevent the possibility of iron stains. The Town of Braintree will not be responsible for damages to laundry due this necessary maintenance work on the water distribution system.
