Public Notice – Dry Weather Outfall Inspections
Throughout the remainder of May and the month of June 2019, staff from the Town’s Stormwater Division and their consultant Brown & Caldwell will be conducting dry weather inspections of the Town’s stormwater outfalls. The testing is intended to identify potential sources of illicit contamination being discharged to Braintree’s waterways. These inspections are mandated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) MS4 permit program. Therefore, the Town is required to secure the Right of Way for any outfalls located on or adjacent to private properties.
The Braintree Stormwater Division mailed letters to the owners of these private properties to notify owners that staff may need to enter their properties in order to access outfalls, but that their properties will in no way be impacted by the testing. Inspections will take place during working hours during May and June, weather permitting.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience and appreciate your continued cooperation while we strive to maintain and improve our storm sewer infrastructure. If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please contact the Braintree Stormwater Office at (781) 794-8930.
