Mayor Kokoros Public Statement March 16, 2020 (PDF)

The Town is currently scheduled to hold a special election on March 28, 2020, to vote on four proposed debt exclusion questions. Given the current public health emergency created by the COVID-19 virus, I am working on all available options to reschedule this Special Election. The decision to postpone an election requires legislative action or court intervention. While the state considers the filing of special legislation, I have instructed the Town Solicitor to file a Complaint seeking the necessary court order to allow for a postponement of the special election. These steps are being taken to preserve your right to vote on these important issues and ensure fair and equal access to the polls for all.

The Braintree Food Pantry will remain open and will continue to operate during normal business hours, Tuesday through Thursday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Residents in need of food assistance and are not currently a client of the food pantry should contact the Marge Crispin Center by phone at 781-848-2124.

Also, the Recycling Drop Off center will be closed, effective at the close of business Tuesday, March 17th until further notice.

Additional information regarding the Town’s Emergency Response Plan can be found on our website and the Town’s social media pages. Information regarding this public health emergency is constantly evolving and I am committed to keeping you informed as new information becomes available. You may also call my office directly at 781-794-8100 with any questions.

Thank you and goodnight.
