Mayor Charles C. Kokoros has established a $100,000 emergency rental assistance fund to assist tenants who have lost employment or otherwise suffered income losses as a result of COVID-19 related economic closures.
The Town will partner with Metro Housing Boston to administer the Program, which will provide financial assistance to eligible households who owe back rent or are unable to make their next scheduled rent payment and are at risk of losing their housing.
Households in need of assistance can complete the Program application through the online application portal on Metro Housing Boston’s website at https://www.cognitoforms.com/MetroHousingBoston1/RAFTERMAApplicationMiltonBraintree or from the link on the Town’s website at www.braintreema.gov. All applications must be received by August 7, 2020 at 5 p.m. At the end of the application period, a lottery will be held to determine the wait list order for receiving assistance.
“With the eviction moratorium scheduled to end on October 17, 2020, it is critical to make assistance available to support Braintree residents who are at-risk of losing their housing,” explained Braintree Mayor Charles C. Kokoros.
Up to $4,000 in assistance is available for income qualifying households. “The goal is to provide housing stability for as long as possible with these funds,” noted Mayor Kokoros.
