RECYCLING SHREDDED PAPER – NEW SERVICE AT RESIDENTIAL DROP-OFF CENTER
Shredded paper is no longer accepted in your recycling cart and must be placed in the trash if picked up curbside.
If you do want to recycle shredded paper, there is now a container at the Residential Drop-Off center for this purpose. Simply hand your bag of shredded paper to the attendant who will empty it into the special carts. Limit of two 15 gallon bags per visit.
Please do not place shredded paper in any other container at the site.
Under recently revised MA D.E.P. rules for recycling, shredded paper is no longer accepted in any single stream recycling container. Shredded paper is always in some type of bag and when opened at the recycling processing plant, the material flies around the room and equipment, resulting in the plant not being able to recycle it. Bags of shredded paper need to go in the trash curbside.
