Stretch Energy Code

On Monday, October 1, 2019, the Braintree Town Council voted to accept the “Stretch Energy Code” for ALL new home and commercial building construction within the Town of Braintree effective January 1, 2020.

PLEASE BE ADVISED that:

•    Effective January 1, 2020, All applications for new home construction, must include, as part of the application process, an energy modeling report of the proposed dwelling, prepared by a H.E.R.S. rated professional.

•    Additionally, proof of a successful “Blower Door Test” will need to be provided to this department at the time of the Final Inspection.

The “Stretch Energy Code” does not apply to projects involving additions or remodeling.   However, homes reduced to first floor decks or foundations will be viewed as new construction.

Applications currently in process or received by this department prior to January 1, 2020, will not be subject to the Stretch Energy Code.
