Engineering

The Engineering Division is mostly engaged in planning, designing, administering and answering questions on the various Town-funded water, sewer, drainage and roadway improvement projects, on finding ways to get additional work done, and on improving efficiencies through Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), etc.

Assisting other Department of Public Works (DPW) Divisions and Town Departments with their daily work and with special projects utilizes the next largest block of our time.

Additional Duties

For the remainder, we assist patrons with inquiries regarding:

• Pending public or private projects
• Flood insurance
• Zoning of parcels
• Traffic controls
• Property line records
• Town land
• Building numbers
• Abutters’ lists
• Drainage
• A multitude of other subjects

Since many types of the records we maintain have now been scanned into a digital format we can often provide our patrons with information they desire by email.
