Town Clerk

The Town Clerk serves as the Chief Election Official, Chief Records Officer, Chairperson of the Board of Licensing Commissioners, administers the annual town census and the decennial U.S. Census and is the keeper of town records. 

Vital Records

The Town Clerk is responsible for recording the vital record events that occur in the Town of Braintree. Vital events include births, deaths, and marriages. Marriage licenses and certified copies of vital records are issued by the Town Clerk’s office. The Town census is compiled in this office and is reflected in the Resident Street Listing Book.  Updated resdent street listing books are published each August and are available for sale throughout the year.

Elections

The Town Clerk is responsible for voter registration and conducting all Elections. If you are not a registered voter and would like to register to vote, view the Massachusetts Online Registration System website.  This website link will also allow you to verify your current voter registration status.  

Issuing Licenses & Permits

The Office of the Town Clerk issues dog licenses, business certificates, raffle permits, liquor and common victualler licenses as well as 1-day alcohol licenses.
